Laborer
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Laborer to join our Meyer and Sons team. This role involves performing a range of basic and advanced carpentry tasks, ensuring site safety, working collaboratively with staff, customers, and local businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and determine the appropriate actions for assigned tasks
- Operate hand and power tools to complete basic construction work
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, customers, and other professionals
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines
- Understand and apply basic construction principles
- Adhere to the company's "Work Site Safety Plan"
- Perform rough carpentry tasks such as framing walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, and stairs, as well as applying roof and wall sheathing
- Perform finish carpentry tasks, including interior/exterior trim work, drywall installation/finishing, siding, and door/window installation
- Work at heights of up to three stories, including tasks like roof tear-offs, installing roofing materials, and window placement while following OSHA safety guidelines
- Ensure the health and safety of all involved, including coworkers, subcontractors, inspectors, and yourself
- Complete necessary project documentation and paperwork
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings
- Knowledge of carpentry materials, tools, and techniques
- Strong attention to detail and task prioritization
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Must have experience with:
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, and smoothing materials
- Framing and finishing stairways, doors, window frames, partitions, and rafters
- Assembling furniture, cabinets, siding, and drywall
- Installation of various components as per project requirements
- Conducting repairs and maintenance
- Laying floors, roofing, or drywall ensuring precision and compatibility
